Declare slots · Live values later

Mutual funds, PPF and FDs — declare now, value later

You can declare investment and liability slots without broker credentials. Mutual-fund CAS auto-imports from Gmail; live broker portfolio values and Account Aggregator fill are not day-1. Spending from alert emails remains the primary live path.

What you can declare today

In Financial coverage you can declare investment and liability slots — mutual fund folio, demat, NPS, EPF, PPF, fixed deposit, loan, insurance, and other manual assets — without broker or lender credentials. Declared-only slots show honest freshness (Declared · no live feed), never a fake Syncing state or a green Active chip. Fixed deposits stay under the funding bank institution and roll up in Investments. Mutual-fund CAS statements from CAMS, KFintech, CDSL, and NSDL import automatically from connected Gmail; locked PDFs need your PAN saved. Live broker holdings sync and Account Aggregator links are not day-1.

What already works for spending: Glass Money reads the bank, UPI and credit-card transaction alerts your issuers already email you and turns them into categorised spending activity, with monthly trends, a per-bank breakdown, and manual entries when an alert never arrived. If your SIP debit generates a bank alert, it appears as a transaction like any other — but Glass Money records it as money leaving an account, not as a holding with a current value or a return. Statement PDF upload is not a product feature.

The Indian investor's problem: wealth scattered everywhere

A typical Indian saver's portfolio is spread across more places than any single app can see. Mutual fund SIPs run through one or two platforms. The PPF account lives at a bank or post office and updates once a year in a passbook. Fixed deposits sit in two different banks at different rates and maturities. Stocks are with a broker, NPS is on its own portal, and there may be sovereign gold bonds or an EPF balance on top. Each one has its own login, its own statement format, and its own way of showing returns.

The consequence is that almost nobody can answer the two questions that actually matter: what is my total net worth today, and is it growing fast enough for my goals? Adding it up by hand in a spreadsheet works for exactly one weekend, and then the spreadsheet goes stale.

Why we have not built it yet

Spending data has one honest, universal source in India: the transaction alerts issuers already send. Holdings do not. Valuing a portfolio needs current NAVs, folio-level positions, accrued interest and maturity dates — pulled from CAS statements, broker feeds, or regulated account links that we have not built. Guessing at any of that would produce a net-worth number that looks authoritative and is wrong, which is worse than no number.

So the order is deliberate: get spending right first, from a source that cannot drift, then add holdings when we can source them properly rather than approximate them.

What you can do in the meantime

Know what you can actually afford to invest. A complete, categorised picture of the month — which is what Glass Money does build today — is the input every SIP decision needs and most people are missing. See automatic UPI expense tracking and categories and spend trends for what that looks like.

How your data is handled

Access is read-only and scoped to transaction alert mail from known bank and card senders. Glass Money cannot move money, place orders, or redeem anything — there is no payment or broking rail connected to it at all. We do not sell your data. Our FAQ and privacy policy cover the detail.
