Why iPhone UPI tracking is awkward
Many automatic Indian expense trackers are Android-first because Android can support SMS-based import flows. That is useful if you are comfortable with SMS permission, but it leaves iPhone users hunting through GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, bank apps, credit-card statements, and Gmail.
The important detail is that UPI spending tied to a bank account leaves a bank-side record. The UPI app starts the payment, but the durable record is usually the bank debit alert and the statement entry.
Use the bank alert, not the UPI app history
A GPay history only shows GPay. PhonePe only shows PhonePe. Paytm only shows Paytm. Your bank account sees all of them because it is the account being debited. If your bank emails transaction alerts to your inbox, those alerts can become the source for a cross-app UPI spending view.
Glass Money starts with read-only inbox access to known bank and card alert senders. When alert coverage is incomplete, compare against your own bank records and add missing activity manually — statement PDF upload is not a public-beta product feature. The source method is the starting point; the goal is a trustworthy view across every account that matters.
Setup checklist
Start with the bank or card issuer, not the tracker. Confirm email alerts are enabled for the account linked to each UPI app, then confirm those alerts land in the inbox you will connect.
- Check your primary savings account, salary account, and any UPI-first secondary account
- Search your inbox for recent UPI amounts to confirm debit alerts are actually arriving
- Keep your own bank or card statements handy for older months or accounts that had email alerts switched off
- Use one inbox for the banks you want in one place, with consent when accounts belong to someone else
What Glass Money can and cannot do on iPhone
Glass Money can track the bank-side alerts generated by iPhone UPI activity when those alerts arrive by email. It can categorize transactions, show monthly and per-bank trends, let you edit categories, and fill gaps with manual entries.
It cannot read iPhone SMS, cannot see inside GPay or PhonePe directly, cannot move money, and cannot infer a transaction your bank never emailed or included in a statement. Android is publicly available on Google Play; iOS remains invite-only. The same email-alert workflow is available through the beta web app for allow-listed users.
Best fallback when an iPhone month is incomplete
If you find gaps, compare Glass Money with your own bank or card statement for that month and add missing activity manually after checking for an existing entry. Statement PDF upload is not a public-beta product feature; manual entry is the live gap path on top of alert-mail automation.
For iPhone users, the best practical stack is alert emails for day-to-day tracking and manual entry for occasional backfill. That keeps you out of line-by-line logging without needing Android SMS access.
